The lumber business has gone a long way. In the past and even until today, the usual scenario is that timber is bought from an independent site, and then delivered to a lumber yard where it will be disposed of.

To make this picture clearer, let us discuss the difference between timber and lumber. Some people don’t know but there is a distinction between timber and lumber. Timber refers to a wood that is still standing. That means it is still a tree that is attached to the ground. It may also mean a tree that has been cut already but still has its bark on.
